What We Do

New Creation Addiction Ministries is a Scott County ministry and operates primarily in Scott County, but we also work with men from surrounding counties. We have been involved with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office for well over a decade. On Wednesday mornings, our director works with inmates in the Jail and teaches biblical discipleship classes. He has been teaching those classes since 2015.

New Creation offers support services, leadership development, and unconditional encouragement, etc. to those who join our ministry. Our mission is to transform habitual addicts or those who have an out-of-control, negative, and manipulative lifestyle into the likeness of Christ through intense discipleship, radical love, and a structured environment that allows the chains of bondage to be broken.

To this end, in addition to the weekly biblical discipleship classes in the Jail, we meet with men struggling with life-controlling problems to assess their specific needs and assist with the entire process required to get them the best help available. Sometimes this is as simple as a phone call or visiting their home and providing support and encouragement. Sometimes we provide for specific needs such as food, clothes, etc. In other cases, the best way to help these men is to get them into long-term residential rehabilitation.

To achieve this, New Creation collaborates with Christ-centered ministries and has had tremendous success. According to studies, faith-based programs experience an 85% success rate, which far excels those of secular rehabs. (3-5%)

While the men we assist are away, we do our best to maintain relationships. Many times they have court hearings and appointments while they are in rehabilitation, and we help as best we can to keep them in compliance.

The Christ-centered ministries we utilize, which have 6-12 month-long programs, provide counseling and intense Bible study, and encourage a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. After completion, students are also encouraged to follow the vision God has given them. For some, this means going on to college or returning to their communities, while others have the opportunity to stay and work for the various ministries that helped them.

Sometimes, the men we assist have no other option than to go on to prison. In those cases, we do our best to stay in communication with them via mail or email to continue to support, encourage, and disciple them while they serve their time.

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.” ~ Titus 2:11-14 (NIV 1984)
